What’s the best way to clean your mouth after a tooth extraction?
A new study suggests that a toothbrush is a good way to go, but you don’t have to buy one just to make sure you’re getting the best results.
The research, led by anesthesiologist and dental student Marla G. McGlone, shows that brushing with a toothpaste that’s made with a bacterial-free powder and water improves the pH of the patient’s mouth and mouth region, allowing them to get better results with less risk of infection.
McGlone is a faculty member in the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.
This new research has major implications for the future of dentistry.
As the popularity of dental implants and implants for oral health grows, there is an increasing need for more effective dental care.
“What we’re looking at here is a whole different approach to treating infection and disease,” McGlonor said.
People who already have an infection or disease that they are trying to cure are more likely to want to get the most out of their treatment, McGlor said, and a solution that does not involve a lot of hand-washing can also be effective.
But, she said, it’s also important to remember that brushing a tooth with a dental brush does not mean you are washing the mouth completely.
“It’s not the toothbrush that’s actually the problem, it is the mouth,” McGone said.
McGlonors team found that patients with infections or other dental diseases like cystic cavities or gum disease were able to achieve improved outcomes with a paste containing the probiotic Bifidobacterium longum, Bifidium, and Bacteroides species from the genus Streptococcus.
However, the researchers also found that after a three-day course of treatment with the oral bacteria, the patients’ saliva had become more acidic.
In other words, the team found a decrease in the amount of the bacteria in the patients mouth, which was beneficial for their health.
The researchers also showed that the patients had improved the pH levels in their mouth region and the pH level of the mouth.
That suggests that the bacterial-containing toothpaste is not only effective for preventing infection, but also relieving the pressure on the mouth region that is causing the infection.
“We know that people have bacterial infections that can lead to dental pain, so it is critical that the dental care team get in the habit of using products with good bacteria levels in them to avoid infection,” Mcglone said, adding that there is a lot to be learned about using probiotics in the dental profession.
One of the best ways to protect against dental infection is to wear a face mask and avoid brushing your teeth, Mcglonor added.
